About Leslie

Leslie is a born and raised Southern California native and a UCLA graduate. She received a diploma in biology but always had a love the creative. She has always had an interest for anything DIY and handmade. In her early years, she was an avid scrapbooker, knitter, and paper crafter.

Leslie first discovered the beautiful elegance of calligraphy when planning her wedding in 2014. She was first inspired by all the beautiful wedding pointed pen calligraphy found on Instagram and dedicated her time to learning more lettering. From there, she was introduced to the world of all types of lettering, ranging from pointed pen, brush lettering, to digital lettering. She met so many amazing artists from the lettering community that both encouraged and inspired her to further develop her skills.

In 2017, she authored the lettering guide “Modern Calligraphy: A Beginner’s Guide to Pointed Pen and Brush Pen Calligraphy” in order to share with others her passion for calligraphy and lettering.

In her book, she shares her favorite tools, the basics of calligraphy, and also provides guides for lettering each letter of the alphabet in various styles. You can get a copy here.

Leslie is best known for her Instagram video tutorials and incorporating color into her works. Her personal philosophy is inspired by the words of Albert Einstein “Creativity is contagious. Pass it on”. She loves sharing her love for the lettering arts with those on social media and is excited to share her knowledge of lettering with others.
